Canine Nation is pleased to announce that we are expanding to feature the work of some of the best and brightest writers and trainers in the dog world. Our Canine Nation Forum on Facebook has sparked lively and intelligent discussion over the past 5 years and we are happy to share with you the writing of some of the most thoughtful and insightful writers.
Jessica Sky Elliot offers us a look at what she sees as a “new fundamentalism” in her offering for us this month. Jessica is a young trainer who uses modern, science based training with her own dogs in addition to contributing her time and energy to the rescue and shelter dog communities. Welcome Jessica!
Jesse Miller brings a unique perspective on dogs and training. With a Ph.D. in bio-ethics, his writing often successfully straddles the line between philosophy and practicality in exploring the issues around the dog-human relationship. A student at the Jean Donaldson Academy for Dog Trainers, Jesse works with her rescue dog, Edie, on a variety of emotional and social issues as well as volunteering her time at the local shelter. Welcome Jesse!
In the coming weeks we will be featuring articles by dog researcher Melissa Starling, animal play therapy practitioner Rise van Fleet, and more. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements!
