Dog training is evolving rapidly. Some in the dog community feel that we need to actively prohibit the use of training equipment like electronic and prong collars. There are generations of habits and methods built up around these tools. How do we facilitate the transition to new methods without creating new problems? I think it’s a question we should be discussing.

I love the idea of providing a 4 -week training session to train the dog owner to avoid using the shock collar. But, the idea of using the shock collar or any aversive tool is similar to a part of your opinion about balanced dog training. Correcting a dog using aversive tools is rewarding to the dog owner and it feels good but we don’t realize what that correction does to the dog’s behaviour, emotions, and the effects on cellular levels.
