There seems to be a lot of talk these days about how to make sure that you are “leader of the pack” with your dog. I thought I would pass on this bit of advice from Canine Nation.
How to make sure you are your dog’s Pack Leader
1. Provide food for them daily.
2. Provide fresh water for them daily.
3. Provide access to somewhere for them to relieve themselves daily.
4. Provide for some exercise every day. (e.g., play, walks, ball, tug, etc.)
If you don’t think your dog understands your role in their lives, stop doing #1.
Your dog will get it. Everything else should take care of itself.
That’s it. No fancy techniques. No Alpha Rolls. No “Pssshhhhttt!”. No scolding. No Dominance.
Take care of your dog. Communicate clearly. Pay attention to them.
It’s really not that complicated.
This has been a public service announcement from Canine Nation.
[Note for the satirically impaired: Canine Nation does not condone the wilful starving of dogs to demonstrate power. We are just saying that you already have control over your dog’s life, don’t get all commando about it.]
