Up here in Canada it is Thanksgiving Day. It’s a good time to reflect. There is a turkey in the oven, lovingly prepared by my wife. Family will be joining us soon to enjoy a meal. And our dogs are enjoying having us both around in the good-smelling kitchen.
I’m very thankful for my dogs. Thankful that they are creatures uniquely bred to be companions for humans. I’m grateful for their patience, perseverance, and personalities. Mostly, I’m grateful to have lived long enough to learn how to appreciate them for who and what they are.
I’m thankful for an incredible list of fellow dog lovers, many of whom I have only spoken with online, who have sharpened my learning and generously filled me up with their knowledge. I am grateful for your patience with me.
I’m thankful to be living in a time when information can be shared so easily and so widely. I’m thankful that so many of you have encouraged me to share my writing and my thoughts with you. In spite of how it can seem from time to time, I believe the “dog world” is a passionate and kind place.
On this day I am thankful for you. I am thankful for a dog-loving community that works so hard to make life better for both the dogs and the humans.
Happy Thanksgiving from Canine Nation.
Eric
